European Cluster Observatory
The European Cluster Observatory provides a wide variety of data on clusters in Europe and is divided into four main sections. The first is the Cluster Mapping of Regional Clusters based on 38 cluster categories, in 259 NUTS 2 regions. A new section about Cluster Organisations maps, and now lists, regional and local private-public partnerships focused on cluster improvements. The section on Cluster Policies reports on both national and regional policies and programmes and finally, the Cluster Library includes cluster case studies and other cluster-related documents. Currently, the observatory has more than 150 member cluster organisations.
The European Cluster Observatory is managed by the Centre for Strategy and Competitiveness (CSC) at the Stockholm School of Economics, and is financed by the European Commission’s DG Enterprise and Industry through the Europe INNOVA initiative. During 2009-2012, the observatory will be revamped with the acquisition of new data, the injection of new graphic and visual presentations and the introduction of a new web tool that will assist SMEs and other organisations to benchmark their performance and find new partners.
