The Europe INNOVA Conference 2006 was a great success. More than 600 innovation stakeholders met in Valencia from the 26th to the 28th of November 2006 to discuss the most effective ways to support innovation. The conference had a twofold focus; one in clusters, recognized as one of the cornerstones for development and economic growth, and one in "gazelles", the fast growing innovative companies that boost European competitiveness. The speeches and the presentations are available at the programme section.
Many congratulations to CASTLE, INVESaT, BeLCAR and TCAS, awarded as the Europe INNOVA Networks of the Year for their outstanding teamwork and networking results achieved. Congratulations to Dusan Busen of the Slovenian Automotive Cluster (partner in TCAS) and Herbert Ortner of the Oekoenergie-Cluster Upper Austria (partner in CENCE), awarded by the European Commission as the Europe INNOVA Cluster Manager and Europe INNOVA Clusterpreneur of the year 2006. More information on the awards
The award winners were announced during a ceremony presided by former Finnish Prime Minister Esko Aho and David White, Director of Innovation Policy at DG Enterprise and Industry.
Active networking throughout the whole event showed that a European innovation community is taking shape; a community bringing together innovation professionals, researchers, cluster managers, CEOs, investors and many other business experts. In addition, conference participants sent a strong signal to EU Ministers and Commissioners concerning the priority actions needed to ensure that the EU is competitive. The Europe INNOVA stakeholders invited the European Commission to take note of their concerns and to pass them on to the Competitiveness Council in the format of the Valencia Declaration on Innovation.
